About the role

Netball Scotland is the National Governing Body of Netball (NGB) in Scotland, responsible for the governance, development and growth of the sport across the country. The organisation currently records a membership of nearly 9,000 members across 216 clubs and is one of the most popular sports in Scottish schools with over 500,000 sessions being delivered nationally each year. Netball Scotland is recognised as one of the fastest growing and most innovative NGBs in Scotland and is proud to be at the forefront of pioneering change for women’s sport across the UK.

Netball Scotland aspires to be world class in all that it does, on and off the court, from grassroots to the international stage. The latest strategic cycle sees Netball Scotland enter phase 2 of a 3-part long term strategy of growth and development, with the focus now being on Strengthening the Organisation and Enhancing the Pathway. This means building greater capability, resource and commercial investment across the organisation in order to deliver the ambitions and potential of a thriving, sustainable and successful NGB, as well as one of the top netballing nations in the world.

There is a significant opportunity for Netball Scotland to be one of the leading women’s sports organisations in the UK. Through smarter operation and a stronger commercial approach, the business can grow their audience and reach to deliver the commercial gains and impact required to take the sport to the next level in Scotland and on the UK and Global stage.

Netball Scotland is looking for a visionary leader to head up a Board of dynamic and highly skilled Directors in this exciting, but critical, growth phase of the business. As Chair, you will provide independent strategic direction and promote the highest standards of corporate governance within the Board and Organisation. We seek a high profile, inspiring leader who can help to deliver commercial benefits and realise the ambitions of Netball Scotland.  This is a unique and exciting opportunity to be a part of something ground-breaking in women’s sport in Scotland. As Chair, you will be integral to developing the strategy and proposition that will help to shape the future landscape of netball in Scotland. Though the 2019-23 Strategic Plan has been carved out, in light of Covid-19’s consequences, this requires review and action to ensure Netball Scotland continues to thrive.
