Head of OD & Talent

About the role

With over 130 years of experience, KCA Deutag is one of the world’s leading drilling and engineering contractors working onshore and offshore with a focus on safety, quality and operational performance.

The Head of Talent and OD will lead the Talent and OD Centre of Excellence agenda across the group. The role will have responsibility for the full talent spectrum including Talent Management, Succession Planning, Performance Management and Behaviours and Engagement.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President HR the responsibilities will include (but not exclusive to):

  • Own and develop the Talent & OD Strategy for the Group aligned to the Global HR strategy and priorities
  • Ensure the implementation in the agreed Talent & OD Programmes and processes on an annual basis
  • Bring best practice across the group, implementing bespoke components to meet local needs as required by the business
  • Collaborate on the development of new global and local Talent & OD programmes ensuring they are aligned with the business priorities
  • Managing the day to day activities of the Talent and OD Team and projects to ensure that all programmes projects are delivered to defined timescales and to budget
  • Establish relationships across all levels of KCA Deutag and be a key influencer
  • Provide clear leadership and direction for all HR transformation related activities

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Develop a Talent and OD strategy for the group and prepare annual plans to support this in line with business priorities
  • Collaborates with business areas to identify, analyse and assess development needs; translates needs into effective learning solutions for individuals, teams, departments and/or the organisation
  • Continue to embed and develop the groups behavioural framework and associated projects, including behavioural champions, new appraisal process etc
  • Own, manage and co-ordinate the group wide succession planning toolkit and programme
  • Support, design and develop key internal development programmes including leadership and management training
  • Identify and develop High Potential Employees
  • Develop and manage the groups mentoring and coaching programmes
  • Build excellent working relationships with key stakeholders across the business to ensure a good working knowledge of the business
  • Lead the development and implementation of blended learning solutions
  • Ensure that Project Plans are developed and maintained for all projects and initiatives to monitor progress achieved
  • Reporting the progress of the programmes at regular intervals to the HR Leadership Team including progress against project or programme plan, top risks & issues and project/programme change requests which impact milestones and therefore need escalation or approval by senior management
  • Lead a small team to deliver the major Talent and OD initiatives
  • A key member of the HR Leadership Team and take on all accountabilities and responsibilities required at the level
