FWB is pleased to have advised the Board and investors of Subsea Micropiles on the appointment of Els Verbraecken as Non-Executive Director, following a global search process that attracted significant interest from experienced board-level leaders across Europe, the US and Asia.
Els brings a rare combination of financial, commercial and industry expertise, underpinned by over a decade as Chief Financial Officer of DEME Group, a leading global contractor in offshore energy, dredging and environmental remediation. During her tenure, she helped steer the company’s financial strategy, led its public listing in 2022, and supported its expansion into new markets including offshore wind, environmental remediation and complex marine infrastructure.
A passionate advocate for sustainability and innovation within the maritime and energy sectors, Els has extensive board experience across both public and private organisations. Commenting on her appointment, she said:
“I am excited to join the board of Subsea Micropiles at such an important and dynamic stage of development. I see a beneficial disruption to the industry supported by innovation and a strong service solution. The company’s mission and values align closely with my own, and I look forward to contributing to its continued growth and long-term success.”
Her appointment follows the recent addition of David Watt as Chief Operating Officer, another leadership hire advised by FWB. David joins with a strong background in engineering, manufacturing and technology-led scale-ups, having held senior positions across industrial and offshore businesses. As reported by Insider, David brings a proven track record in scaling operations internationally, and his experience in leading high-growth businesses will be instrumental as Subsea Micropiles accelerates its commercial deployment.
Both appointments come during a period of strong momentum for Subsea Micropiles. The business has recently announced new project wins, expansion into key offshore energy markets, and the successful completion of a significant investment round, which will support further product development, delivery capacity and international growth. These developments underscore the company’s emergence as one of the most innovative forces in subsea anchoring and foundation solutions, known for developing scalable, robust and cost-effective systems adaptable to a wide range of seabed and load conditions.
Commenting on Els’ board appointment, Goran Dandanell, Chair of Subsea Micropiles, added:
“We are delighted to welcome Els to the Board. Her deep financial acumen, combined with her operational experience in offshore and infrastructure sectors, will bring valuable insight to our strategic direction. Her appointment reflects our commitment to strengthening board diversity and governance.”
FWB is proud to have partnered with this talented leadership team at Subsea Micropiles and its investors to support the next phase of its journey. We wish Els, David and the wider Board continued success as one of the most exciting and disruptive organisations in this sector as we see it.
