FWB advises Glasgow Caledonian University on five new Lay Members of Court

  • Appointments

FWB were delighted to support Glasgow Caledonian University recently in appointing five new members to the University Court, its governing body.

Working with the University on such an important set of appointments has been a privilege, and we are delighted to have helped identify individuals of such breadth, depth and distinction at a time when the sector is going through unprecedented challenge and requires strong governance.

Barbara Allison CBE brings senior leadership experience from across the Scottish Government, the Scottish Prison Service and the charity sector, underpinned by her background as a chartered accountant. Andrew Craig adds three decades of investment, business growth and entrepreneurial expertise, including his role as co‑founder of Maven Capital Partners. Cara Chambers offers extensive global marketing leadership across the food and drink sector, alongside her commitment to coaching and developing future leaders. Vida Rudkin contributes significant international experience in financial services, risk, regulatory governance and organisational transformation, following a distinguished career at Morgan Stanley. Joining in August, Dr Yvonne Thompson CBE brings a remarkable 40‑year track record as an entrepreneur, civic leader and champion of women’s leadership, including founding WinTrade Global and co‑founding Choice FM.

Each of these individuals will bring invaluable insight, challenge and leadership to the Court, and we are confident they will make a significant contribution to the University’s future.

Commenting on the post, Yvette Hopkins, Chair said:

‘We were delighted with the advice and support provided by FWB when recruiting our latest group of lay governors for the Court of Glasgow Caledonian University. Ailsa, Kirsten and the whole team at FWB were very supportive and professional and guided us through the process with their understanding and expert knowledge of the Higher Education sector and its requirements. FWB assisted us with the recruitment process including advertising and reaching out to their extensive network of contacts. They provided an expert review and analysis of applicants, providing us with a list of potential governors, each of whom possessed the qualities and skills that we required.

FWB continued to assist us through the interview process and ultimately, we were able not only to successfully fill our vacancies, but in view of the quality and skills of the candidates presented, we appointed additional governors in order to benefit from the skills and experience that those candidates would bring to the Court.  We are grateful to FWB for their assistance but also for their dedication and professionalism in ensuring that our requirements and expectations were fulfilled and indeed, exceeded.’
