About Kibble

Kibble is one of Scotland’s most respected charities and social enterprises, supporting children and young people aged 5-26 who have experienced significant trauma and adversity. For more than 160 years, Kibble has provided care, education and opportunities that enable young people to build brighter futures. Today, the organisation delivers a broad range of integrated services including residential care, secure care, education, fostering, adoption, community-based support and specialist intervention programmes.

As Kibble continues to evolve and expand its impact, we are seeking to appoint new Non-Executive Directors to join the Board and help guide the organisation through its next phase of development and growth.

The Opportunity

This role offers the opportunity to use your expertise, insight and judgement to support an organisation that changes lives every day.

As a Non-Executive Director and Charity Trustee of both Kibble and Miss Elizabeth Kibble’s Trust (MEKT), you will provide strategic oversight, support effective governance and offer independent challenge to the executive leadership team. You will play an important role in ensuring the organisation continues to deliver high-quality services for children and young people while maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding, financial stewardship and regulatory compliance.

Working alongside an experienced Board, you will contribute to shaping Kibble’s long-term strategy, supporting organisational sustainability and ensuring the charity remains focused on achieving the greatest possible impact for the young people and communities it serves.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals who share Kibble’s commitment to improving the lives of children and young people and who can bring strategic leadership experience, sound judgement and a collaborative approach to Board decision-making.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • A commitment to Kibble’s mission and values.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to provide constructive challenge.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience contributing at Board, executive or senior leadership level.
  • An understanding of governance, accountability and organisational oversight.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding.

Kibble is particularly interested in hearing from individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Education leadership or school governance
  • Social care, youth services or mentoring programmes
  • Safeguarding and child protection
  • Finance, audit, property or legal services
  • Fundraising or charity development
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Community engagement and public sector partnerships
  • Human resources, operations or digital transformation

Why Join Kibble?

Kibble’s mission is simple yet powerful: empowering lives and fulfilling potential through care, education and opportunity. The organisation’s vision is to transform lives, families and communities, creating positive change that extends well beyond the young people it directly supports.

This appointment offers the opportunity to contribute to a purpose-led organisation with a strong reputation, an ambitious future and a genuine commitment to innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement. You will join a Board that is dedicated to ensuring Kibble remains at the forefront of delivering trauma-informed services that improve outcomes for children and young people across Scotland and beyond.

Diversity and Inclusion

Kibble is committed to building a diverse Board that reflects the communities it serves. Applications are welcomed from candidates of all backgrounds and lived experiences. The organisation is committed to creating an inclusive environment where difference is valued and where everyone can contribute fully.
