FWB are pleased to announce the sale of our Oil & Gas Practice to the Executive Search company Boyden – a move aimed at unlocking further investment opportunities for our core business and sharpening focus on key long term strategic growth sectors across the UK.

Scott Black, Managing Director of FWB said of the deal,

“FWB are delighted to announce the sale of our UK Oil & Gas Practice to Boyden. We would like to thank the team for the significant contribution they have made over many years following the acquisition of Park Brown International in 2014. We wish John Cameron and the team all the very best. This transaction delivers a great new home for the business and its people, enabling FWB to fully focus on what we regard to be our core sectors and markets across the UK and internationally. Our decision to sell the practice completes a process that began in 2020 when we sold our US Energy business.”

Nick Robeson, Managing Partner for Boyden in the UK & Ireland, expressed his appreciation to the FWB team involved in the acquisition and commented,

“We are delighted to have come to an agreement with FWB to acquire their Aberdeen based Oil & Gas practice. Boyden’s global footprint in Energy was highly attractive to John Cameron, who will now join our rapidly developing business as Managing Partner of our Energy Practice, along with Peter Roberts, Nia Lynch-Cryle, Kieran Whyte and Jemma Knight.”

This transaction enables FWB to focus on its core sectors and markets across the UK and internationally, and paves the way for investment and growth in these sectors.

Notably, our Consumer Practice has achieved outstanding growth of 150% since 2018, underlining our expertise in advising companies involved the FMCG and consumer markets, where there is a clear battle for talent.

Similarly, our Public Sector Practice and Financial & Professional Services Practices have seen tremendous growth rates of 100% and 67%, respectively, reflecting FWB’s expertise in these sectors.

Our Built Environment, Infrastructure and Support Services Practice has delivered strong growth of 35% since 2018. This practice operates in critical economic sectors which drive vital economic renewal and infrastructure projects across the UK. With the focus on net zero and carbon reduction in the built environment, we anticipate significant growth in the next decade.

FWB has also expanded its Energy Transition, Technology, Life Sciences, Engineering and Manufacturing practices.

Scott Black noted that “Since co-founding the organisation more than 30 years ago, FWB has become the largest executive search firm headquartered in Scotland, with an impressive overall growth rate exceeding 40% in our core markets since its management buy-out in 2016.” He added, “The business is as dynamic as it ever was, with a group of ambitious shareholders who are keen to explore new opportunities, continue to attract great talent into our business, and of course to continue to deliver an outstanding level of service to our customers.”
