Head of Design Engineering – Diving & Life Support

About the role

Our client is a privately owned engineering and subsea company servicing the offshore oil and gas and maritime industries. Their service portfolio encompasses the sale and rental of specialised equipment and they also have a state-of-the-art manufacturing capability for the delivery of customised engineering projects worldwide.

They employ around 500 people and have facilities across the Middle East, India, South Africa, Singapore, Europe, the UK and the USA. Through a process of both organic growth and targeted acquisitions, the business is continuing to expand its services, capabilities and geographical presence.

Our client is seeking to appoint a Head of Design Engineering for the Diving & Life Support division. We are looking for individuals with relevant experience as an Engineering Manager in a manufacturing environment with a thorough understanding of design methods, principles and reviews.

Ideal candidates will have direct experience of the diving equipment sector and will be able to quickly enhance the project execution capability of the department. Alternatively candidates must have previous experience of designing to ASME pressure vessel codes, likely from the subsea sector. The appointee will bring strong leadership skills and an ability to drive engineering excellence in the context of project delivery, whilst understanding the importance of commercial considerations.

The role is based in Cape Town, South Africa and ideally the successful candidate will locate there. However, consideration may be given to candidates being located in either the UAE or UK with the requirement to spend considerable periods of time in Cape Town.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a business with a global footprint which has ambitious growth plans for the future.
