The Trustees of the Salvesen Mindroom Centre* (“SMC”), an independent Scottish charity, are delighted to announce two important additions to the Board, effective immediately.

Sandy Manson is the new Chair of SMC. In his professional capacity, Sandy is Chair and Head of Client Services at Johnston Carmichael, Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers. He is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh and joined Johnston Carmichael in 1991 where he was CEO from 2007 until 2019. Sandy is also a past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.

“I am really delighted to be joining the hugely able team at Salvesen Mindroom Centre. SMC is a pioneering and inspiring Charity which is improving the lives of thousands of children and families living with learning difficulties. Given the growing reach and impact of SMC’s work, this is a transformational time for the organisation and I intend to play my part in helping to build a world class organisation on well-established foundations.”

Judy Wagner is also joining the Board as a Trustee. A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, Judy began her career as a chartered accountant and worked in commerce before co-founding FWB (now FWB Park Brown), an international executive search business with offices in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Houston, Texas. She is an Associate of The University of Edinburgh Business School and Joint Programme Director for the University’s Executive Women’s Leadership Programme and also for Non-Executive Director Programme.

In welcoming Sandy and Judy, the Trustees would also like to thank the retiring Chair, Anton Colella, for his insightfulness, pragmatism, business acumen and infectious energy.

The Board of Trustees now comprises: Sandy Manson (Chair), Sophie Dow (Founder), Alastair Salvesen (Co-Founder), Robin Dow, David Farquharson, Johnny McGlynn and Judy Wagner

Scott Black commented: “I’m delighted that we have been able to support Salvesen Mindroom Centre through helping them to appoint Sandy Manson as their new Chair. We wish Sandy and the organisation every success in their efforts to increase the understanding of learning difficulties, while both empowering and encouraging all those living with the difficulty. I’m also delighted that through Judy’s appointment as a Trustee we have been able to strengthen our association with the organisation.”
